Eyeshadow Palettes | New on my Desk

I recently made some purchases online for new eyeshadow palettes, and thought I would share them with you! Please note in the swatches below I have used an eyeshadow primer at the top end of the swatch, and at the bottom there is only my skin :)

The first one is the ever-famous and coveted Wet & Wild Color Icon Trio in Walking on Eggshells - RRP $USD2.99. When this criminally cheap and quality brand comes to Australia I will be a happy poppet. I couldn’t wait much longer, so I purchased this one off eBay. After comparing my swatches online, I think I got a winner!

This really is eye shadow for dummies. It has brow bone, crease and lid embossed onto the powder so you know where to put each colour. The lid colour (far left in swatch picture) is very similar to Stila Kitten, but at a fraction of the price!

I am absolutely in love with this look! I’ve been sporting this in a couple of Instagram selfies of mine.

The next eyeshadow palette I bought was a little pricier. The Estee Lauder Deluxe Eyeshadow Compact has been on my wish list for some time as well! Not only does it home 18 gorgeous eyeshadows (all with varying shades and finishes) but it also comes in an adorable golden shell compact, with a nice big mirror on the inside! Hello gorgeous!

The following swatches from left to right are

79 Summer Linen. Matte Finish. Not very pigmented, but similar toFoxy from Urban Decay Naked2 Palette. (Barely Visible)

47 Nude Fresco. Satin Finish. A light pinkish hue. (Slightly visible)

33 Ivy Envy. Satin Finish. Olive Green.

72 Amazing Grey. Shimmer. A steely gun metal.

13 Tranquil Moon. Satin Finish. A pinky lilac.

38 Chocolate Bliss. Matte Finish. Estee Lauder’s answer to MAC’s Charcoal Brown.

09 Amethyst Spark. Shimmer. A deep, dark purple with blue tones.

73 Peacock Blue. Shimmer. A light, sheer navy.

10 Ivory Slipper. Satin Finish. Perfect brow bone highlight.

46 Flirty Lilac. Shimmer. Blue-toned lilac shade.

07 Smoky Ember. Shimmer. A red-toned brown shade. Reminds me of a dying bushfire (geez I am poetic)

50 Sandbar Beige. Matte Finish. This one is barely visible on my skin.

01 Pink Flash. Shimmer. Reminds me of MAC’s ‘Phloof!’. A very pearlescent highlight.

23 Berry Burst. Shimmer. Cranberry coloured - perfect for the Christmas season!

35 Hot Cinnamon. Shimmer. Similar to MAC’s Woodwinked, but a little warmer.

27 Purple Passion. Satin. A blue toned matte purple.

63 Tempting Mocha. Shimmer. Similar to MAC’s Sable. Lovely cool toned brown for the crease.

11 Rivera Rose. Satin Finish. Barely visisble. Pink toned highlighter.

Some of the eye shadows aren’t as pigmented or creamy as I would like them to be, but I am really loving a couple of them, including 23 Berry Burst, 63 Tempting Mocha, 10 Ivory Slipper and 35 Hot Cinnamon. These look beautiful together, and just perfect for the upcoming festive season! (I seem to choose fall colours for Christmas. Must be that Northern Hemisphere influence!)

I hope you enjoyed this swatcha-licious post. What new palettes have you been eyeing off, or are new on your beauty table?

Stay Minty!

  1. That foolproof palette is something I should look into. I’m utterly clueless when it comes to eyeshadow. I’ve been wanting to experiment but it’s so much more complicated nowdays with people usually using about 4 colours and all these different brushes and primers etc. I have no idea where to start!
I’m going to show my age here but I’m from the time when people just whacked on one shade onto the lid and that was about it. Sure, it probably looked crap, but we all looked like crap together! :)

    • There are some great ‘fool-proof’ eyeshadows from Revlon as well, their palette looks essentially like your eye area :) Haha I had a stage (not that long ago) when I only used one eyeshadow too. But when you get into blending and creating different looks it’s hard to stop! I like to stick to neutrals for eyes mostly because I just love using a bright lip!
