Here is Part 2 of my 2013 favourites! You can check out my makeup favourites here My skincare for 2013 has been very up and down. Some really amazing products, and also some not so great products (for me). Here are the winners for 2013!
Cleanser
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser has been perfect cleanser for me this year. It is non-drying and has an amazing fresh fruity scent. It’s a great drugstore product and fairly cheap at $14.99. For 2014 I have purchased some Kate Somerville products, so we will see how it fares More to come on this soon!
Makeup Remover
Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleanser & Make Up Remover has been a staple since my trip to Paris in November 2012. It’s super gentle, but so awesome at removing makeup! I had to go without this for approximately 6 months this year and it was so hard I recently picked it up at Priceline and I am still in love with it.
Toner
Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner is alcohol and paraben free, and has rosewater which is so lovely. I much prefer spray on toners because they are excellent for freshening up during the day (especially this Summer - it’s crazy hot!)
Moisturiser
The Garnier Dark Spot Corrector is a daily illuminating moisturiser, and it’s great for restoring vitality to my skin. As someone who has a great many acne spots and hyper-pigmentation, I’ve found this is (slowly) helping to fade the spots!
Eye Cream
The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream hasn’t really wowed me as such, but seeing as my last eye cream gave me an allergic reaction, this one has proven itself worthy! I am still on the search for the perfect eye cream, but this one is light, soothing and gentle.
*Let me know your suggestions for your favourite eye creams below!*
Face Mask
LUSH Cupcake I’ve only used a handful of times this year, but I really notice a difference! It is the best mask to use for troubled skin (hello!) and teenage skin. Did I mention it smells good enough to eat? Lots of cocoa powder, peppermint and sandelwood in this mask makes it smell divine.
Spot Treatment
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo* has been in and out of my beauty regime for a while because I kept receiving sample sizes through one way or another. I recently received a full size product and I can keep it in my collection for a while! Yay! It’s great for sensitive skin and really helps with those pesky face demons which seem to pop up unexpectedly.
Skincare Tool
The Clarisonic Mia was one of my major purchases in 2012 and I stopped using it in the last half of this year because I didn’t think it was doing anything. BOY I was wrong. I have noticed enlarged pores and generally more blackheads popping up than I normally would! I am back on the Clarisonic band wagon and I feel a difference already!
Lip Scrub
LUSH Bubblegum is a sugary, delicious lip scrub that is super sweet. I didn’t think anything could surpass LUSH Mint Julips as my favourite lip scrub, but here we are! It helps with my sugar cravings too, and leaves my lips super smooth and ready for moisturising.
Lip Balm
Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter has the best scent for a lip butter ever. It has a little colour pay off too, which is perfect for the warmer months when I don’t feel like wearing a lipstick, but still want to protect and nourish my lips.
Shower Gel
I purchased Soap & Glory Clean on Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel back in June and I am still working through this giant bottle! I like to switch it up with a more shower gel than a cream occasionally, so that’s why there is still so much left! It is great for shaving legs (because of the creamy consistency) and has an amazing fresh scent.
Body Exfoliator
So you may notice I have a thing for pink grapefruit scents. The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Sugar Scrub has entered my life in Spring and it’s so refreshing and uplifting! It’s really great for exfoliating because it’s not too harsh, but still does a great job.
Body Moisturiser
The Body Shop Relaxing Lavender Body Lotion has been on my bedside table for all of 2013 and it really helps me drift off to sleep easier! Introducing aromatherapy into my routine with moisturiser is definitely one of the best ways to do it, and this lotion takes me to a wonderful place - and kind of makes me feel like my bedroom is a spa. A really, run down, messy spa.
Fake Tan
When St Tropez appeared in my July Violet Box I was overjoyed! This fake tan looks real guys. It is a green based mousse which ensures you don’t turn into an Oompa Loompa. I apply this with the St Tropez tanning mitt and it goes on flawlessly. I cannot express enough love for this product! Well worth the monies!
Fragrance
Thierry Mugler Alien (reviewed here) has to be my favourite perfume of the year! It is so different and sexy smelling and I simply cannot get enough of it!
Hope you enjoyed my favourite skin care products for 2013! What is your stand out product for 2013? Stay tuned for my 2013 Favourites Random Post in the next couple of days!
