When Victoria Earls sent me the Makeup Revolution lipsticks, I was over the moon! I’ve heard a bit about these highly pigmented, sometimes dupes of MAC Lipsticks, and the fact that they are only about a pound each, seals the deal. I thought I would do a mini-review on each lipstick and show you guys some of the lip swatches and how fantastic they are
First on the lips is Nude from the Amazing Lipstick Collection. It’s a matte, brown based nude without being too nineties brown (but it gets you there). Super easy to glide on for a matte lipstick and staying power is awesome!
Next is Depraved from the Amazing Lipstick Collection. This is a creamier finish, but I find it a little patchy. It would work really well with a lip liner to help fill it out a bit, but who has a purple lip liner in this shade? Still going to try and get this one to work for me though!
This gorgeous lip colour was compared by Raspberry Kiss against the cult favourite MAC Rebel Lipstick, and it’s pretty obvious that it is meant to be a dupe, with a name like Rebel with a Cause (you so cheeky Makeup Revolution!). You can see on her blog that the match is SO CLOSE that I don’t even feel the need to pick up MAC Rebel now. This has been a favourite of the collection for me, applies smoothly and wears like an expensive lipstick.
These next to are VERRRRY similar. The first is 100% Vamp, and is a little more red toned than the other one below. I find it goes on patchy, but when teamed with a darker lip liner (like Rimmel London in Plum, or MAC Nightmoth) it would work quite well.
Lastly, Black Heart has me won over. I love the dark, purplish undertones to this almost black. It’s super similar to Rimmel London Kate Lipstick in Shade 04, but I believe that is a matte shade, while this is super glossy. Again, I think this lipstick could be improved, but with a suitable lip liner the staying power is pretty good
